Fresh Air

Their day-to-day struggle for survival has captivated the world for more than two months. The men trapped underground in Chile's San Jose Mine have been emerging all day and are rightfully greeted as heroes by ecstatic relatives, joyous friends and strangers watching online streaming from all over the world.

By midday on Wednesday, nearly half of the 33 men had been successfully rescued including the oldest and youngest among the trapped. No one in recorded history has survived underground -- with no access to sunlight or fresh air -- as long as these men. The efforts seem to be running smoothly, and are on track to finish before sunrise Thursday. Can you imagine being underground for 2 months? I can't even imagine being stuck in my bedroom for two months...and I like my bedroom! This is truly amazing. How happy their families must be. Welcome to the sunlight and all the things I'm sure you will never take for granted again boys.
