My heart aches for what happened yesterday in Boston.
Recently, having gone through a trauma where I lost
someone I loved most in this world, it's hard to
understand what anyone is going through -
that was there or knew someone injured...
or actually lost a loved one.
that was there or knew someone injured...
or actually lost a loved one.
As someone in the media industry,
I've been watching how each network covers the unfolding events,
the reporters/anchors,
how they reacted,
and conveyed information to us, the viewers.
I wasn't sure I was going to blog about this, but,
I turned on the 4th hour of The Today Show and
Hoda Kotb, whom I usually enjoy just fine,
(I think she's a great journalist)
keeps describing her thoughts by saying
"the funny thing is.."
"the funny part of that is..."
Hoda, there is nothing funny about any of this.
I'm not on-air talking about it, so,
easy to sit and pick apart her word choice..
however, it's really bothering me.
What happened at The Boston Marathon is a tragedy.
As the wife of a marathon runner it truly terrifies me.
As a citizen of this country it saddens me.
As a human being I feel like I want to help.
Nothing funny about any of this.
In her defense,
I'm positive she really doesn't
think any of it is funny.
Obviously she doesn't think that.
Just poor word choice.
Still bothered me.
